Programs and Community Service
The Brewster VFW Post 672 participates in a number of scholarship competitions, recognition awards and community outreach programs. A few are listed below. Some are for members only, and some are open to the public. Scroll down to see the various things we do.
Brewster Memorial Day Parade
Each year on Memorial Day, we host a parade that starts at the Brewster Firehouse on North Main Street and ends at Veterans Park (formerly Electrazone Field) on Railroad Avenue.
Summer Picnic for Members & Families
Held at a local park or the Elks Club, this traditional summer picnic is a chance for members of the Post and their guests to get together for some summertime fun, including swimming, BBQ, music and more.
The Bob Palmer Project
Leading up to Memorial Day each year, we coordinate the placing of fresh flags on the graves of every veteran interred within the town of Southeast. We also install brass flag-holders for interred veterans as our budget and manpower allow.
Brewster Veterans Day Ceremony
A ceremony to recognize Veterans is held each Veterans Day in Veterans Park (formerly Electrazone Field) in downtown Brewster.
Monthly Breakfast Fundraiser
From October to May, we hold a breakfast buffet on the second Sunday of every month. Menu includes an omelet station, scrambled eggs, pancakes, waffles, homefries, bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy, and more. $10 per adult, $5 per teen and kids are free. No reservations required, and all are welcome for this community event.
